Computer Training For Emergency Services Personnel

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Emergency Services personnel receive extensive training in their respective academy.  In the initial phase of training, the subject matter is mainly academic.  Law enforcement personnel, for one, cover topics such as state law, drug recognition, hazardous materials recognition, and more through hours of classroom instruction.  The remainder of the training cycle is hands-on training.  In a portion of the hands-on training, computers play a major role.

For instance, for law enforcement there are ’shoot or don’t shoot’ scenarios:  These are played out on a video game like system, in which the officer stands on a padded surface that detects every movement (ducking, kneeling, shifting side-to-side).  While standing on the surface, the officer has a weapon ‘holstered’ and is provided scenarios in which he or she must decide whether or not to shoot a subject.  During this training, the officers every action or inaction is monitored up to and including verbal commands given to the ’subject’.  This type of computer training has proven vital over the years in terms of evaluating prospective law enforcement officials. Asset Tracking is IT for Disaster Recovery

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

It seems superflous to say so, but asset tracking is an essential part of any centralised asset register.Aside from issues of compliance with national and global accounting practice standards, business can no longer rely on piecemeal policies and outmoded practices.Doing so will leave a gaping hole in corporate value and expose you to potentially costly liabilities.Only through the implementation of rigorous asset acquisition and disposal policies and recording detailed information about all the company’s hardware and software assets can accounts teams retain full control over those fixed assets and understand their true business value.

That’s especially the case with IT assets, given the fact that computers and telecommunications now lie at the heart of almost every organisation.  The frequency of software audits will increase as more emphasis is placed on managing software licences on the fixed asset register to comply with SIRB and Federation Against Software Theft (FAST) legislation.A central register that records the serial number and asset location as well as the value of each IT item is necessary if you wish to avoid a ten year jail term, that being the maximum penalty for illegal software use.  Aside from keeping out of pokey, it’s well worth maintaining a central register for reasons of increased business efficiency and overall economy.  Competent fixed asset tracking software packages will also provide the ability to present detailed information that can inform management decisions about the disposition of resources. A market study of colour printers

Monday, December 28th, 2009

The printer manufacturing market appears to be a booming one. Manufacturers are little doubt eyeing enlargement and coming back up with newer products to capture the burgeoning market. The manufacturers are inquisitive about the color -printer sector for purely reasons of expansion. There is stiff competition between the manufacturers as all are concentrating to keep the prices low to capture the market. It must be said here that whereas in the monochrome department Hewlett-Packard co. are the market leaders, the reigning company in the color section still remains undecided.

However the long run of the colour printer market is presupposed to be a bright one per those investing in these companies. The investors are a lot of optimistic, as these printers, using four times the toner cyan, magenta, yellow, and black of a monochrome printer, will manufacture pictures of a abundant higher quality.
